Kristjan believes that while buy-to-let properties are attractive on paper, landlords should be aware that net yield is the amount of profit an owner achieves after all costs have been met and these costs can have expenses that many owners forget.

“These costs could also include landlord’s insurance, letting agents’ fees, furniture, maintenance, safety certificates and so on. Some of the most expensive and, in my experience, often forgotten expenses are service charges and ground rent.”
